Training Program
About our training program
We start our training by first evaluating each dog to see how they react, and how much training they have had. We ask the owners what they expect from their dog. Would they prefer a obedient companion or have a companion hunting dog. Golden Hills training is solely based on obedience. We start with the basics, sit here and stay, and expand on them. We never deviate from our standards. Obediance and contol are the foundations of all that comes from a good retriever good companion dog and good citizen. We work off this foundation starting by introducing water birds, gun fire and all the sites and sounds a new dog will experience. From this point we teach collar conditioning and marking, both on land and water. When pup is old enough we introduce force fetch with hold and release. From this point we mix in a generous amount of birds. We take all our dogs through all the things they need to be JR Hunters. At this point we start handling drills and working on whistle comands. Depending on the dog and the owner we can then go on to multiple retrieves and the things necessary to achieve Senior and Master titles.
